“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is not time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. This is how civilizations heal.” – Toni Morrison

“I had no idea you had this site Kia. I love opportunities to encourage and speak positively to our communities. Wonderful articles. To answer your question of how am I… I am hopeful. Hopeful that true dialog will continue in our homes/work places that uplift each other and bring greater understanding of each other. I am prayerful. Prayerful for leaders. Both current and those rising. I pray that they find guidance from our Creator and peace in His presence. Dr. Duncan’s article is powerful in that it reminds us that our VOICE is a vehicle for change. I also love the challenge of describing what freedom looks like to each of us as an individual. Freedom to me was to have an opportunity. All I have ever wanted/needed was an opportunity.”

Charla (August 2020)
