More About Kia Lanae
A native of Indiana, Kia Lanae (Kia L. Coleman) is a communications specialist, inspirational speaker, poet, and author of “Who Is She? She Is Me: Inspirational Poetry and Reflections for God’s Evolving Daughters”. She also works in full-time ministry at a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, multidenominational dynamic and evolving church and carries over 25 years of service and holistic leadership experience.
Throughout the years she has served and partnered with several community organizations, ministries, and initiatives in Indiana, North Carolina, and beyond including Pink Ribbon Connection; Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (NC); UNC Charlotte; Charlotte Family Housing; Community Healing Network; Kwanzaa Charlotte; Endo Black; The International Civil Rights Museum; Fishers Arts Council; Heartland College, and more.
Working in the fields of communications, community relations, and/or transformation, and having a number of certifications, this overcomer is passionate about her continued evolution, her multi-faceted service work, her communities, and she is grateful for all the shoulders on which she stands. Kia Lanae is a graduate of Indiana State University where she studied Radio/TV/Film Communications and also gravitated towards Africana Studies, community building, and the arts. Fast forward, Kia has been trained under powerhouse speaker, Les Brown and more, including teachers and spiritual mentors who have left a long-lasting impact!
Through her own journey of healing and self-discovery, Kia Lanae recognized the tragedy of being stifled by fear, past trauma, and adversity as experienced within her local community and her community at large. Today, she is helping others with similar challenges – those who are truly ready to evoke positive change from the inside out – to rise up and say “Yes” to their best selves as God’s beloved and purpose-filled sons and daughters (quirks and all).
In her spare time, Kia enjoys music and dance, cultural festivals, plays, watching documentaries, word searches, hosting gatherings, spending time with her mother, father, close family and friends, and being a proud member of Generation X.
